Blasphemy Against Prophets and the International Community

(Address from the camp established by Shubban-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat Gujranwala on March 15th, in connection with observing the day "Yaum-e-Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat" {Protection of the Honor of the Prophet PBUH} declared by the Government of Pakistan)

It is a matter of great joy that there is a growing awareness regarding the honor and dignity of the esteemed Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and all the prophets (peace be upon them all). To express this awareness, "Yaum-e-Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat" is being observed throughout Pakistan on the appeal of the Government of Pakistan.

The sacred personalities of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), all the prophets (peace be upon them all), and the companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them all) are the foundation of our faith, the foundation of our love, and the foundation of our devotion. Protecting their honor and dignity is the duty of the entire Muslim Ummah and all of us.

Today, the matter of concern is that the international powers of the world recognize the honor of an ordinary citizen as honor and the insult of an ordinary citizen as a crime. However, there is no international law in the world for the protection of the honor of the prophets (peace be upon them all), and this makes them appear as the big supporters of those who insult the Prophet(s). Therefore, our first responsibility is that all Muslim governments, especially the Government of Pakistan, should take steps at the global level, in the United Nations, and in international institutions to criminalize blasphemy. And they should get it recognized there that just as the insult of an ordinary citizen is a crime, similarly, the insult of any of the prophets (peace be upon them all), especially the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), is also a crime. 

In fact, it is a double crime. One crime is the insult of a sacred and respected personality. And the second crime is that it  injures the hearts of millions of people in the world and causes them pain, so it becomes a double crime. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the governments to get it recognized as a crime. While keeping an eye on those who insult the Prophet(s) and their facilitators in our society, is our responsibility.

May Allah grant us true love for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and give us the ability to fulfill its civic, legal, constitutional, and religious requirements. I congratulate our friends of Shubban-e-Khatam-e-Nabuwat Gujranwala who set up this camp and provided a means for people to express their feelings. May Allah reward everyone abundantly. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad.
